- What can foreigners with illegal status do?
A foreigner with illegal status in Turkiye must first exit the country by paying the penalty for the period they were illegal. After the violation period has passed, it will be possible for the foreigner to enter back into Turkiye if they obtain a resident or work permit, or a student visa.
- What happens to foreigners without a residence permit?
If foreigners who are in the country without a valid residence permit are caught, the governor’s office may issue a deportation decision. Within the scope of this decision, the foreigner in question is given a period of 15 to 30 days to leave Turkiye.
- Has an amnesty been applied to illegal foreigners?
An amnesty has been granted to illegal foreigners in Turkiye providing that they meet certain conditions. The people who can benefit from the amnesty are limited to foreigners who work in the scope of domestic services such as childcare, patients care and elderly care. Foreigners who continue to work in this field and do not have a residence permit can apply for work permit after obtaining a residence permit within the scope of the amnesty.
- When will the amnesty application end?
Although it is not yet clear how long this regulation will be in effect, we recommend that people who think they can benefit from the amnesty apply quickly. As ECY Law, we assist illegal foreigners with residence and work permits.
- What can a foreigner with a deportation decision do?
People who are banned from entering Turkiye have the right to appeal this decision to the Administrative Court. Other than appealing, the other way for foreigners who want to enter the country is to apply for an annotated visa. You can contact us for more detailed information.
- Do I have an entry ban, where can I check?
Whether or not a foreigner has an entry ban is learned through official authorities. Whether or not there is an entry ban to Turkey is checked at the Police Stations and the Immigration Administration. The foreigner can check personally or through his/her lawyer.
- Can illegal foreigners get married?
According to new legal regulations, it is not possible for foreigners without a residence permit to get married officially in Turkey. First of all, a foreigner must have a residence permit in order to stay in Turkey validly. In this way, it becomes possible for a foreigner to get married officially.
